BIO

Mimi is a sound artist whose practice lies at the intersection of experimental electronics, improvised music and sound art.
Using modular synthesizers and Max, she creates sonic amalgams composed of synthesized sounds and audio recordings.

Through the act of deconstruction and remodeling of sonic matter, she seeks to create musicality while highlighting the particular energy of these "invented sounds". In live performance she places a particular emphasis on deep listening.

In addition to her studies in Intermedia and Electroacoustics at Concordia University, Mimi has taken various courses in audio synthesis, programming and 3D spatialization. She participates in research projects and musical performances in academic contexts as well an in the artist-run centers network, and also works as a sound designer/composer on multidisciplinary performance, installation and film projects.
